State’s Domestic Product Declines
The state’s gross domestic product declined in 2016. West Virginia is one of seven states and the only one east of the Mississippi River that saw a drop in the economy last year. The Bureau of Economic Analysis calculated the drop at nine-tenths of one-percent. A decline in mining had an impact on all of these states also: North Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming, New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
