Nitro Antique Car Club Cruz In Friday August 11th
Plenty of Antique cars and trucks will line 2nd Ave in front of Nitro City Hall and Living Memorial Park from starting at 5:00pm. There will be DJ Music and free hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
Meet the Team Friday August 11th
The Winfield Generals will be hosting a Meet the Team and Scrimmage match against Woodrow Wilson at the Generals Stadium. Team introduction will be held at 6:30pm and the scrimmage will be held at 7:00pm.
Ravenswood Pool Midnight Madness Friday August 11th
Ravenswood City Pool will be hosting a Midnight Madness Pool Party from 6:00pm – 12:00pm. Admission is free for the entire event!!!
The Great Green Bean Cook-Off Friday and Saturday August 11th & 12th
The Great Green Bean Cook – Off will be held in Buckhannon at the River Walk. There will be tons of events including…. The green bean stroll, the movie “The Goonies” on the big screen Friday, live music, and the Great Green Bean Cook-off o Friday!!!
Wayne County Fair Friday and Saturday August 11th & 12th
The Wayne County Fair will be held at Camden Park starting at noon, rides begin at 1:00pm. Admission is $7.00, with your Fair Admission you can Purchase an All-Day Wristband for Park Rides for an additional $11.00. Rides, Games, Food & Fun!
2023 Run with the Dragons Saturday August 12th
The 2023 Run with the Dragons will start at the St. Albans Fire Station at 8:00am. Registration is $50.00, and proceeds will benefit The SAHS Cross Country Teams.
Fundraiser Community Yard Sale Saturday August 12th
A Community Yard Sale to help the George Washington Wrestling Team will be held in the High School’s Parking Lot from 8:00am – 3:00pm. Spots are $10.00 per space, and you can reserve as many as you need. No tables or canopies provided, but you keep all proceeds from your sales!!!
Car Show and Pig Roast Saturday August 12th
The best day of the year to be in Alum Creek! Come out and look at some antique cars and get a pig plate!!! The fun starts at 9:00am and throughout the day there will be games, concessions, the car show, pig calling contest, great food, raffles, and door prizes.
2nd Annual St. Albans Heritage Festival Saturday August 10th
The 2nd Annual St. Albans Heritage Festival will be held at Olde Main Plaza from 12:00pm – 7:00pm. Admission is free and there will be live music, cars in the loop, farmer’s market, vendors, and historical characters.
Party in the Park Saturday August 12th
St. Albans Parks and Recreation will be hosting Party in the Park at Roadside Park starting at 6;00pm with a Hot Dog Eating Contest. There will also be live music, activities for kids, and great fun throughout the event!!!
Murder Mystery in the Park Saturday August 12th
Join Mountain Roots Theatre group at Slack Plaza from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. You will take on the role of detective as you interview suspects, gather clues, and unveil the truth behind the crime!!! This is a free event, and everyone is welcome!!!
Back to School Bash Sunday August 13th
The First Baptist Church of Nitro will be hosting a Back to School Bash starting at 5:00pm. They will have hotdogs, face painting, school supplies giveaways, live music, games and more!!!
Sunday Summer Cycles Bike Ride Sunday August 13th
Meet outside of the West Side Wonder Mural on Charly Jupiter Way in Elk City at 5:30pm the ride will officially start at 6pm! They will be exploring the vibrant murals and public art installations found in Charleston’s Elk City and West Side Neighborhoods. The ride will last an hour and make sure to bring your helmet.
Mondays on Main Monday August 14th
Come to Main Street in downtown Hurricane for Mondays on Main every Monday this summer from 11:00am – 2:00pm. There will be a rotating list of local food trucks for you to enjoy every week!!!
Red and Black Athletic Club Fundraiser
The Red and Black Athletic Club are now selling St. Albans Junior High bricks. You can purchase them at City National Bank in St. Albans Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. With your purchase you will also receive a St. Albans Junior High sticker. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to support youth league, middle school, and high school athletics in the St. Albans community!
Korea War Memorial
The names of any U.S. military Veteran living or deceased, are being accepted for addition to the Korean War Memorial located at the intersection of Montrose Avenue and MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston. Branch of service, rank, and dates of service can be added to the memorial as well. For more details call (304)722-1204.
Covenant House – Monday through Friday
The Our choice food pantry opens at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, now located on site at Covenant House, 600 Shrewsbury. Last year 11,182 West Virginians relied on the Covenant House Food Pantry to put food on the family table.
