Boomtown Days – Friday & Saturday September 13th and 14th
A high-energy rock & roll oldies band with 30 years of experience tops the bill for entertainment at Nitro’s Boomtown Days festival on Saturday, September 14. Santa Cruz will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. followed by fireworks 15 minutes later. Prior to the Santa Cruz, local band Stephanie Stacy & the Aftermath will perform a mixture of country and rock music from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The day’s musical entertainment will begin from 11 to 1:00 p.m. with the Barn Hollow Band, followed by the Bluegrass Revival from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. All of the entertainment will occur on the stage at Living Memorial Park, 112 21st Street in Nitro. Also, during the Boomtown Days festival, about 200 antique cars, hot rods and specialty vehicles are expected to line up along Second Avenue as the Nitro Antique Car Club holds its 57th Annual Antique Car Show on September 13 and 14. The Doughboy/Tudors 5k will take place starting at 8 am at the Living Memorial Park. A parade on First Avenue will occur at 10 am, starting at Pickens Rd. There will be a Kid’s Fun Zone, throughout the day, across from the park. In addition, beginning at 4:00 p.m. on September 14, an all-you-can-eat Italian feast will be provided at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for $10.00 each. Proceeds will benefit the Nitro Mission Team.
Vendor Fair – Saturday 9/14
Saturday from 8am – 2pm..The Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene will have their “Bags of Blessings” Vendor Fair at the Church behind Moses on Corridor G. This event will be held in the Gym with dozens of vendors and great food too. All proceeds will help sponsor kids this Christmas with the Bags of Blessings.
Gospel Concert – Friday 9/13
The Hurricane First Church of God will be hosting a gospel concert starting at 7:00pm.
Birds of Prey – Saturday September 14th
The Kanawha State Forest Foundation will host the Three Rivers Avian Center’s Birds of Prey Raptor Program from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Participants will meet in front of the Nature Center and don’t forget to bring a lawn chair!!!
12th Annual Block Party/Outdoor Concert – Saturday September 14th
Asbury United Methodist Church will host its 12th annual block party and outdoor concert from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in front of the church on Charleston’s East End. This FREE event will include…. face painting, a Jupiter jump, music, rock painting, book giveaways, hot dogs, and a drawing for both a boy’s and girl’s bikes with helmet.
Music and Movie Night – Saturday September 14th
St. ALbans Parks and Recreation will host a Kids’ Activities Music and Movie night at St. Albans Roadside Park starting at 6:30pm. The night will include… games, West Virginia Foam Garage, rock painting, sand art, sidewalk chalk art. and a free concert from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Also the movie “Lilo and Stitch” will be on the big screen at dark. Make sure to bring you lawn chair or blanket!!! Also throughout the event The St. Albans Little Dragons football team will be selling hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and sno-cones,
4th Annual S’more of Him – Saturday September 14th
