16th Season of Live on the Levee – Every Friday Night now thru August 30th
The summer tradition is back for its 16th season!!! Live on the Levee returns every Friday night now through August 30th. This FREE family friendly event features musical performance with the opening acts taking the stage at 6:30pm and the headliners starting at 7:30pm. Various food truck will set up starting at 5:00pm and sell tasty treats during the evening. Also there will be weekly 50/50 drawings to help support local charities. This week taking the stage starting at 6:30pm Charles Wesley Godwin and at 7:30pm Dillon Carmichael.
17th Annual South Charleston Summerfest 2019 – Friday – Saturday August 16th – 17th
The end of summer tradition is back…. it is time for the 17th Annual South Charleston Summerfest!!! There will be great food, live music, a FREE kids zone every night, cotton candy, snow cones, face painting, inflatables, and of course fireworks starting at 10:00pm on Saturday to wrap all the festivities!!! Elkview Spaghetti Dinner – Friday August 16th
Jarrett Memorial Methodist Church in Elkview will host a spaghetti dinner from 4:00pm – 6:30pm. The cost is $8.00 per person and all proceeds will go to help schools in the Elkview area.
Church Flea Market – Saturday August 17th
Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church will be hosting their annual flea market from 8:00am – 1:00pm at the church, 108 Oakwood rd., Charleston. The giant sale will include… furniture, collectibles, toys, home items, baby items, clothing, appliances, electronics, and plenty of other great finds!!! Capital Cocktail Classic – Saturday August 17th
The Capitol Cocktail Classic a Fund Raiser for the Arts will be held from 5:00pm – 7:30pm. The following location in downtown Charleston will be participating… Bar 101, Sam’s Uptown Cafe, The Block, and Black Sheep Burrito and Brews. Ticket holders will receive one signature drink and tapas-style food at each participating venue and then vote on their favorites at the end!!! Tickets are $50.00 per person or $90.00 for couples. Clay County Farmer’s Market – Saturday August 17th
The Clay County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the courthouse square. There will be fresh produce, handmade items, baked goods, and plenty of great local items for sale!!!
Camp Virgil Tate 65th Anniversary Celebration – Saturday August 17th
This year marks the 65th Anniversary of Camp Virgil Tate!!! To celebrate this milestone, staff and volunteers have organized an anniversary celebration and dinner to be held at the Camp Virgil Tate Dining Hall. Festivities will be held from 11:00am – 4:00pm. and will include children’s activities and games, 4-H project displays, and a performance by the Almost Heaven Dulcimer Club as well as other live music. Event attendance is free and open to the public. Music will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will last the duration of the event.
A roasted hog dinner will be served starting at noon for $15 per adult plate, and $10 for children under 12. Dinner will include a pork BBQ sandwich with slaw, a choice of sides, and a beverage. All of the proceeds from the dinner will go towards continuing to support the operation of the camp as well as towards various improvement projects
