The Division of Highways thinks it can save the state some money by making a change to how the Courtesy Patrol is operated. Presently the state pays a Beckley non-profit group nearly three-and-a-half-million dollars a year to operate the patrol. A Department of Transportation official told the Legislative Post Audits Committee that it could save money by bringing the safety patrol in house.
