Man Sentenced in Woman’s Heroin Overdose Case
A Charleston man accused of supplying heroin to a woman who overdosed and died last year has been sentenced to prison. WCHS-TV reports Kanawha Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey sentenced 28-year-old Steven Craig Coleman on Monday to one year in jail for involuntary manslaughter and one to three years for attempting to deliver heroin. According to court records, Melody Ann Oxley’s body was found at Coleman’s home in February 2015. A toxicology report showed Oxley died of a heroin overdose. Coleman pleaded guilty in April to the charges, and in return prosecutors dropped a murder charge.
