Man Faces Charges for Fake Shooting Report

A fake shooting report is landing a Charleston man in hot water. Charles Loftus II from the South Hills area is facing charges for calls and text messages to Kanawha County Dispatch about a fake shooting and hostage situation at the Oakwood Terrace Apartment Complex. His information generated a legitimate emergency response, which takes resources from people who really need them. He’s being prosecuted for the fake calls, and also charged for having a stash of marijuana when officers found him.
