Kawnaha County Schools Plan a Few Layoffs

A handful of layoffs are happening in Kanawha County schools. The Kanawha County Board of Education unanimously approved terminating the contracts of two “professional personnel” and 10 “service personnel” at the end of this school year, according to the Gazette-Mail. The professional category includes teachers and principals, while the service category includes bus drivers, cooks and custodians. Retirements and resignations before the fall could make space for these workers to come back.
