Increased Patrols Planned for I-64 Construction Zone
Neighbors in a Teays Valley area want better enforcement to crack down on speeding and distracted driving near the Interstate 64 construction zone. Eyewitness News talked to one man who said he sees people reading newspapers and looking at their cellphones while on the road. Drivers are cramming on to Teays Valley Road to try to avoid the ongoing construction on I-64, which is causing backups and making back roads just as dangerous as the construction zone. Three people have died in vehicle accidents in the I-64 construction zone this week. Division of Highway officials told Eyewitness News more state troopers will be in the work zone and more signs have been added warning drivers to slow down.
