Poca Girl Encourages Pledge to State Flag

A 10-year old girl in Poca has helped start a new tradition. Maranda Raine wrote a letter to the town council saying West Virginians should say the pledge of allegiance not only to the US flag, but to the West Virginia flag as well. The city council agreed, and invited Maranda to say it with them at a meeting this week. They also presented her with a plaque making her the city’s junior mayor.
