AEP Wants a Tax Break

Appalachian Power wants a tax break. The company is asking the state to reduce its property tax assessment by about $300,000 because of a mild winter and summer. The Kanawha County Commission is against it, and urges the state to deny the company’s request. AEP wants the tax break to keep rates low for customers. A final decision will come in mid-December.
