Dunbar City Accountant Charged With Embezzlement

An accountant who worked for the city of Dunbar is accused of embezzling $203,000 from the city. 39-year old Reneda Lynn Welch is charged with embezzlement after a lengthy investigation and after a forensic audit revealed she had taken about $203,000 between 2014 and 2016. Welch was arrested Friday and released on bond. This case is one of the many the state auditor’s office has taken on through a partnership with county prosecutor’s and sheriff’s offices across the state.
