McDowell County Man Faces Upgraded Charges

A man is facing new charges after the woman he’s accused of shooting passed away. Michael Kennedy is accused of shooting his girlfriend and murdering her son, and is now charged with two counts of first degree murder. Police say Kennedy shot Jessica Daugherty and her 16-year-old son at her home in McDowell County in November. Daugherty’s son died at the scene, and she died last month. Kennedy is being held without bond.
