Ski resort owner accused of failing to pay taxes

Tax evasion charges are being filed in Tucker County against one of the owners of the Timberline Four Seasons Resort. Prosecutors say 56-year-old Fred Hertz didn’t pay hotel-motel taxes for a year, and owes more than four-thousand-dollars in back taxes. Timberline was scheduled to open its ski season this weekend, but is pushing that back a week.
