Possibility of Charter Schools is Still Up for Discussion

Lawmakers said no last session to a bill allowing charter schools, but the issue may not be dead. A West Virginia Chamber of Commerce rep spoke to school board members Monday in support of allowing charter schools here. Teachers unions are generally opposed, and say charters could diminish employee rights. The Charleston Gazette said research suggests charters have no particular advantage for students over traditional public schools.
