Board of Education wants to raise taxes

The Kanawha County Board of Education wants to raise property taxes to help fund schools. Board members voted to uncap a levy that would increase taxpayer’s annual bill by over eight-dollars for every 10-thousand-dollars of assessed home value. The board says the money will be used to upgrade facilities, increase security and hire more staff. The levy will be on the ballot in November.
