Walmart is West Virginia’s Biggest Employer

Walmart continues to be the largest private employer in West Virginia and has been since at least 1999. According to the annual list released Friday, the top five private employers in the state are unchanged. Walmart is followed by West Virginia United Health System, Charleston Area Medical Center, Kroger, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Rounding out the top 10 were Murray American Energy, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Lowes Home Centers, Cabell Huntington Hospital, and Res-Care.
