WV Man Faces Federal Capital Punishment
39-year-old Marlon “Ice” Dixon from Charleston is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9 for a plea hearing on charges he killed a police informant. Dixon is charged with murder and other counts in the July 2014 death of 21-year-old Branda Mae Delight Basham. According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Dixon killed Basham to prevent her from testifying against him. A federal grand jury indicted Dixon more than one year ago on charges that would make him eligible for the death penalty or life in prison. The Department of Justice will decide what punishment it will seek. West Virginia abolished capital punishment at the state level in 1965.
