WV Gets Ready for Sports Betting Ahead of High Court Ruling

The state will not have to pay any money if sports betting is approved by the U.S. Supreme Court and an integrity fee would have to be paid by the casinos. Gov. Jim Justice said Thursday that a tentative agreement has been reached between the state Lottery Commission, the state’s licensed casino operators and the sports consortium that will enhance sports betting in the state. Details of the agreement were not announced. Later this year, the U.S. Supreme Court will decide New Jersey’s challenge to a law banning sports betting in all but four states.
