Woman is Killed After Walking Along the Highway in the Dark

Kanawha County deputies have been investigating a fatal accident in Belle. Reports came in Friday about a pededstrian that had been hit on US Rt. 60 in the area of Witcher Creek. The woman who was struck had passed away by the time deputies arrived, and investigators learned she had been walking in the traffic lane, wearing dark colored clothing, and by the time the driver saw her it was too late to stop. The driver called 911 and remained in scene until law enforcement arrived, and no charges have been filed. The crash investigation will be completed and the findings will be submitted to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to be reviewed.
