West Virginia’s Economy is the Country’s Fastest Growing
Despite West Virginia being ranked last for the third year in a row on Forbes’ list of “Best States for Business,” another study ranks the state as having the fastest-growing economy in the U.S. for 2017. GOBanking-Rates has rated West Virginia first in the country in economic growth, citing gross domestic product growth, a decline in the unemployment rate and a moderate increase in personal income as the key factors. It said the demand for metallurgical coal, which is used in steelmaking, has grown substantially, and natural gas prices are increasing as well, helping West Virginia make the top of the list.
