Teachers say strike is a last resort
The unions representing teachers in West Virginia say that a strike is a last resort, but they’re ready to take action if lawmakers don’t make progress on pay and health insurance. Over the weekend school employees voted overwhelmingly to go on strike. Union leaders say that before a “much bigger act” of a statewide strike, there would be town hall meetings, walk-ins, rallies and some one-day walkouts that would close schools.
