Legislation would allow nurses’ aides to dispense prescriptions
The West Virginia House voted in favor of a bill that would allow nurse aides to give prescription medications to nursing home patients. Under the bill certified nurse aides would receive training every two year, work under the direction of a registered nurse, and couldn’t give opioids. Opponents say they’re concerned about patient safety. Twenty-five states already allow the practice.
