House Finance Committee approves larger pay raise for teachers

The House Finance committee approved larger pay raises for teachers. The members voted in favor of a two-percent increase in the first year and one-percent annually over the next three years. The measure now goes to the full House. A measure to freeze health insurance costs has also been proposed in the House. Teachers have threated to strike over concerns about health insurance and pay raises.
