Gas Tax Could Increase

A Senate committee has passed a bill that would hike the gas tax in West Virginia by 5 cents. Senate Bill 477 would also increase vehicle registration fees by a little more than $20. Instead of $28 to register a vehicle, the cost would go to $50, and other DMV fees would also increase. Estimates show revenues could increase for the state by $130 million annually. The Sentate Transportation Committee is sending the bill to the Senate finance committee now.
