Electrical Contractor Could be Barred From Doing State Work
A Putnam electrical contractor could be banned from doing business with the West Virginia Division of Highways if the state succeeds with a new push. The Gazette Mail reports the state Purchasing Division recently moved to block Bayliss & Ramey, a Scott Depot firm that repairs and installs traffic signals, from bidding on state contracts. This comes after the DOH awarded Bayliss & Ramey with three new contracts, even though the company and its former president admitted guilt last year in federal court in a kickback scheme. The Gazette Mail reports that since 2014, West Virginia has paid Bayliss & Ramey $12.5 million.
