Elderly Man Dies in ATV Accident

Deputies think a man in Putnam County swerved to avoid a dog, and that’s what caused the fatal accident. 87-year old Luther Young of Hamlin died in the ATV accident Friday near the Putnam-Lincoln County line. It happened on Big Creek Road off Route 34 and Young died at the scene. The dog was hit and died as well, and then Young’s ATV went into a ditch and rolled, according to state police.
