WV to Lose Seat with Census Data
West Virginia is on course to lose another congressional seat, dropping the state to two representatives, the fewest in the state’s history. The likely loss will come following the 2020 Census, after which the data will be used to reapportion the 435 members of Congress based on state populations. West Virginia has been gradually, but steadily, losing population since a 1950 peak of just over 2-million people. The Census Bureau reports the state’s current population at 1.84 million.
