Summit Addresses Tobacco Use Among Pregnant Women

Health officials are gathering for a summit on how to reduce tobacco use among pregnant women in West Virginia. The West Virginia Management of Maternal Smoking Initiative, also known by the acronym MOMS, was unveiled at Wednesday’s summit at the state Department of Health and Human Services in Charleston. The department says West Virginia has the highest prevalence of tobacco use among pregnant women in the nation. The conference brings together federal, state and public/private organizations to discuss innovative approaches to reducing prenatal smoking rates.
