Scrutiny Continues Over Supreme Court Spending
The state Supreme Court has been under scrutiny for its spending, and more information is coming available all the time. The Gazette-Mail reports five secretaries at the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals make $80,000 a year, and clerks at the West Virginia court make more money than their counterparts at any other state’s highest court. A new report from a Vermont law school says West Virginia’s clerks are the highest paid in the nation. A spokesperson for the court said the study doesn’t take into account several factors, and it’s not a fair comparison.
