Sanders on WV
West Virginia delegates to the Democratic National Convention say Bernie Sanders told them this election was never about electing him, and he urged them to unite behind Hillary Clinton and defeat Donald Trump. Sanders spoke to the West Virginia delegation Thursday morning outside Philadelphia. Justin Click, a Sanders delegate, said Sanders contended that his political movement had already won through changes to the national party’s platform resulting from his campaign. They range from a $15 federal minimum wage to a reduced influence of superdelegates, who aren’t bound by their states’ popular vote at the convention. Sanders easily won West Virginia’s May primary. But Clinton scored one more delegate vote Tuesday due to superdelegates. Ronald Curry, a Clinton delegate, applauded Sanders for bringing more young people and enthusiasm to the party.
