President Obama Targets Drugs on Charleston Trip
During his Charleston visit on Wednesday, President Obama acknowledged that the nation’s drug problem is staggering and said his administration continues to work to tackle it. More Americans now die from drug overdoses than they do from car accidents, and the leading cause is prescription drug abuse. At the forum at the Roosevelt Neighborhood Center building in Charleston, the President noted his administration put a prescription abuse plan in place, and the Affordable Care Act includes some initiatives to reduce prescription drug abuse. He also agreed more should be done to better equip first responders.
