More Patrols on Huntington to Charleston Stretch of I-64
Increased police patrols along Interstate 64 from Huntington to Charleston are aimed at reducing what law enforcement officials call a spike in traffic crashes and unsafe driving. The West Virginia State Police and the transportation enforcement division of the Public Service Commission boosted patrols over the first few weeks of November, and say nearly 300 drivers have been stopped for speeding and cell phone use, among other violations. State police and the PSC say they believe the increased patrols will make a positive difference. Commercial inspections also put 13 trucks out of service.
