Man facing attempted murder charge

A man charged with attempted murder is in custody this morning. Forty-year-old Hughie Petry ran from police and jumped into a creek in an attempt to get away. When officers pulled him out of the water, Petry told deputies he was planning to kill someone who had stolen his things. Petry is also connected to an incident Friday. He fired a shotgun in the road near a school which caused Sharon Dawn Elementary to go on lockdown.
