Charleston Distance Run Returns This September

The Charleston Distance Run is coming up, and this year’s race is dedicated to Ken Tallman, the namesake of the Tallman Track Club, and Johnny Barker, whose distinctive voice boomed over the loud speaker at Laidley Field for years. Barker passed away in April, while Tallman died in June. This year’s Charleston Distance Run begins at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 1 on Kanawha Boulevard across from the West Virginia Capitol. It also features a three-person, 15-mile relay and a 5K run and walk.
