Belle Victim Knew the Suspect

Law enforcement officials say a homeowner and a burglary suspect who was shot and killed when he broke into the man’s home knew each other. Sgt. B.D. Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that the burglary suspect was 33-year-old Justin William Jones. He said the name of the homeowner won’t be released at this time. Officials said Saturday that the homeowner called police around 4:25 a.m. and said he shot a burglar at his home in Belle. The man was declared dead at the scene. Humphreys said Sunday that the burglary wasn’t a random incident and the two men had known one another. He said investigators are still working to determine what the suspect’s connection to the homeowner was and why he broke into the house.
