State Unemployment Rate Improves
West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level since November 2008. WorkForce West Virginia said the rate fell three-tenths of a percentage point to 4.9 percent in March. Employment gains came in construction, leisure and hospitality, mining and logging and educational and health services. There were job losses in government, trade, transportation and utilities, professional and business services and financial activities. The national unemployment rate dipped to 4.5 percent in March.
