Marshall University’s president is pleased Governor Justice vetoed a proposed budget. School President Jerome A. Gilbert said last week after the veto the budget would have been devastating for Marshall University and higher education in the state. He added that Marshall’s state funding would have been reduced by more than eight-million-dollars and would have forced major restructuring at the school. Justice turned down the budget and will be calling a special session soon to come up with a spending plan.
