Fayette County Schools to Receive State Funds
The state School Building Authority is deciding on funding for facilities projects in West Virginia. One of the proposals under consideration is a consolidation plan for Fayette County schools, and on Monday the state school board approved $12 million toward that goal, which is more than any other school district will receive. Fayette County schools had asked for $22.6 million. Fayette County wants to trim its 18 schools down to 11 and preserve only two existing high schools. The School Building Authority had requests to consider from several county public school systems also have asked for money. There was $49 million available, and $95 million in requests. Greenbrier and Clay County are among the other counties that will receive money.
