Deputies Warn of Scammers Posing as National Guard
Watch out for people going door-to-door asking for donations for the Army National Guard. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two people accused of soliciting donations in the Camp Conley Road area in Point Pleasant this week. The men claim they’re collecting donations for “Operation Care Package” and they may be wearing army t-shirts and they’ll produce receipts. But deputies say the National Guard doesn’t ask for donations door-to-door. Operation Care Package is a legitimate group that ships packages to troops deployed throughout the world.
