BASE Jumpers Get Ready for Bridge Day

Thousands of people are expected this weekend a the New River Gorge Bridge jump. About 360 people will actually jump at this year’s Bridge Day celebration, and others will turn out to watch. The annual event gives thrill-seekers the chance to jump off of the 876-foot bridge. Those who jump have had at least 100 prior jumps before being allowed to BASE jump at the New River Gorge Bridge. This is the 39th year for the event, and up to 100-thousand people are expected. Detours will be set up Saturday on Route 16 or Route 60.
