Patriot Coal Issues WARN Notices

Patriot Coal notified the Kanawha County Commission that it expects to lay off more than 1,000 workers at six operations in Kanawha County. The layoffs will happen at Speed Mining LLC in Dawes, Wildcat Energy in Eskdale, Midland Trail Energy, Remington LLC in Eskdale, and Little Creek Dock in Charlston…..between Oct. 22 and Nov. 5. Patriot says the notices are conditional because it doesn’t yet know who will purchase some of its assets or what the purchaser’s hiring plans will be. Patriot filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May.
