Restaurant Week Now through Saturday February 4th
Come out for a weeklong celebration of local Charleston restaurants. For a set fee per person, savor an appetizer, entree, and dessert from a selected menu at one of our fine independent restaurants in Charleston. Break bread with fellow Charlestonians and visitors alike while visiting an old favorite local restaurant, or trying one for the first time – Charleston Restaurant Week is the perfect occasion to treat yourself.
Fitness Friday… Friday February 3rd
The Main Library in Room 311A on the 3rd Floor for Fitness Friday featuring instruction from The Folded Leaf Yoga and Wellness Center. Exercise equipment will not be provided. Please bring your own yoga mat to this event.
Reel Readers Movie Friday February 3rd
Reel Readers is a film club for teens (grades 6-12) will be hosting a movie night at South Charleston Public Library from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. The movie will be The Rocketeer (1991), complete with popcorn!
Winter Walk-Off Softball Tournament Saturday and Sunday February 4th & 5th
A Winter Walk-Off Softball Tournament will be held at Valley Park starting at 9:00am on Saturday. The cost is $200 per team (min 10 players, max 15 players) and all proceeds will go to help buy equipment, fund events, and maintain the park. For more details checkout their Facebook page.
Souper Bowl Sale Saturday February 4th
Warm up with soup, bread, desserts, and drinks for sale at Unity of Kanawha Valley in Charleston from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Carry out containers will be available for purchase.
Hurricane Polar Plunge Saturday February 4th
Hurricane is always excited to be Freezin’ for a Reason!!! Come to Hurricane City Park to Plunge together again for the athletes of Special Olympics WV. The cost $50.00 minimum to Plunge – Plus, there’s prizes for the most money raised, as well as best costume. Back again this year is the always fun After Plunge Party at Fireside Grille immediately following the Plunge to warm up with food and drinks. Free admission for Plungers. $10 donation per guest encouraged.
Forks of Coal Full Moon Hike Saturday February 4th
Come out to the Claudia L. Workman Wildlife Education Center starting at 6:00pm for a Full Moon Hike! Remember to bring a buddy!
Korea War Memorial
The names of any U.S. military Veteran living or deceased, are being accepted for addition to the Korean War Memorial located at the intersection of Montrose Avenue and MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston. Branch of service, rank, and dates of service can be added to the memorial as well. For more details call (304)722-1204.
Covenant House – Monday through Friday
The Our choice food pantry opens at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, now located on site at Covenant House, 600 Shrewsbury. Last year 11,182 West Virginians relied on the Covenant House Food Pantry to put food on the family table.
