West Virginia’s credit rating is being lowered. Credit agency Fitch has lowered the state’s rating to AA from an AA-plus. The company said yesterday the downgrade was due to the financial and economic challenges facing the state, especially due to the declining coal market. The AA rating is still a solid one but it does likely mean interest rates offered by state agencies for projects will be higher.
