CHARLIE SHEEN'S legal team is reportedly working on a new strategy to combat domestic violence charges: His wife was WASTED OUT OF HER MIND. --BROOKE MUELLER told Aspen police on Christmas Day that Charlie held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. Since then, however, she has decided she does NOT want Charlie prosecuted. --And the fact that she subsequently checked into rehab helps Charlie out even more. --A so-called "source" says, quote, "Charlie is going to contend that everything Brooke told police isn't true . . . that she was out of her head, that she was so messed up she didn't know what was going on. --She partied hard before the incident. She drank heavily and she smoked crack. And Charlie is fully prepared to use that as part of his defense. --Considering the fact that she went into rehab after the incident, Charlie's argument is going to have a lot of weight."
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is doing a comedy called "Bad Teacher" . . . which stars his ex-girlfriend, CAMERON DIAZ. --And according to "People" magazine, the script calls for Justin and Cameron to have a, quote, "hot romp in a hotel room." --But Justin's CURRENT girlfriend, JESSICA BIEL, has NO PROBLEM with that. She says, quote, "I haven't read the script, but I think it sounds fantastic. It sounds like it will be so funny. Obviously, I'm superexcited for him."
E-Trade has issued a statement regarding LINDSAY LOHAN'S $100 million lawsuit against them for allegedly basing a talking baby in one of their TV commercials on her. --Not surprisingly, they're not sweating Lindsay. --They said, quote, "We believe the claims are without merit and we intend to defend ourselves vigorously in this case." --They added that the commercial was meant to be, quote, "witty and memorable."
There's word going around that TIGER WOODS will make his big return to golf at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. That tournament takes place April 5th through the 11th. --But other sources say he'll enter the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. That one kicks off on March 25th, and Tiger is the defending champ. --But his agent, Mark Steinberg, says none of the rumors are true. He told CNN, quote, "No decisions have been made yet." --The other big Tiger news today is that he has reportedly hired ARI FLEISCHER . . . who was the press secretary for PRESIDENT BUSH from 2001 to 2003 . . . to do some image repair for him. --Fleischer now runs a company called Ari Fleischer Sports Communications . . . which specializes in CRISIS RESPONSE AND CONTROL.
Earlier this week, "Forbes" released its annual list of the World's Billionaires. Here's a look at the ten richest people in the world . . . along with their net worth. Here are the top 5:
#1.) Carlos Slim Helu and family . . . of Mexico . . . $53.5 billion
#2.) Bill Gates . . . of the U.S. . . . $53 billion (--He was #1 last year, when he had $40 billion to his name. So he MADE $13 billion and still lost ground. That sucks.)

"Entertainment Weekly" is reporting that KATHERINE HEIGL may be done with "Grey's Anatomy" . . . for good. --They say she was supposed to return to the set on March 1st . . . after a pre-planned hiatus to shoot a movie . . . but she hasn't returned. --So-called "sources" tell them that Katherine has been trying to negotiate a release from her contract. Word has it that series creator SHONDA RHIMES has signed off on Katherine's exit, but Katherine's reps are still in discussions with ABC Studios.

COREY HAIM . . . one of the TWIN TOWERS OF TEEN IDOLATRY along with COREY FELDMAN . . . died early Wednesday morning. He was 38. --Corey fell ill at his mother's apartment in the San Fernando Valley. He was rushed to a hospital in nearby Burbank, and pronounced dead at about 2:15 A.M. --Authorities believe it was an accidental drug overdose. --We appear to be talking about PRESCRIPTION drugs, though. Ed Winter . . . the L.A. Coroner Assistant Chief . . . says that four prescription bottles were found in Corey's apartment, but they were all, quote, "just normal prescriptions." --He added that NO ILLICIT DRUGS were found. --Winter said that Corey . . . who was staying with his mother to help her battle breast cancer . . . awoke sometime after midnight feeling dizzy and unsteady on his feet. --He tried to stand up, but fell to his knees. His mother helped him back into bed, where he became unresponsive. She called 911 . . . and the rest, you know. --Winter says that Haim's body was, quote, "not in bad shape" . . . and that he'd been battling flu-like symptoms for several days. --Corey's mom, Judy, said quote, "He was a good boy. I'm devastated by his death."
On "Letterman" last night, JESSICA SIMPSON admitted that she's still friends with Dallas Cowboys quarterback TONY ROMO . . . and perhaps still a little too fixated on him. --She said, quote, "Tony is great, still a friend of mine. I still look at his cute butt in the outfit . . . uniform." --When Dave asked Jessica why they broke up, she said, quote, "You'd have to ask him that. He broke up with me on my birthday . . . [But] we are still good friends." --Jessica also said . . . yet again . . . that she was disappointed when JOHN MAYER leaked their bedroom secrets to "Playboy". --And she added, quote, "It was definitely a compliment, in a way. I don't really want people to know that about me. I'm like the good girl, then that happened." --When Letterman suggested that Jessica could be BOTH a good girl AND sexual napalm, Jessica said, quote, "I am. But he gave away my game." --She also said, quote, "I will always care about him. I think he's a great person, a great musician, but I was very disappointed by the article."
MARIO LOPEZ is going to be a father. His girlfriend, Broadway actress COURTNEY MAZZA, is preggers. There's no word how far along she is. --Mario says, quote, "We're very happy. Courtney and I couldn't be more excited. I've waited my whole life to be a dad, this is a true blessing."
BEN ROETHLISBERGER reportedly told police he did NOT have sex with the 20-year-old Georgia woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her last Friday. --Now, the police report states that the woman suffered some kind of head injury after her confrontation with Ben in the ladies room of the Capital City nightclub. And Ben has an excuse for that. --So-called "insiders" say that Ben told police in Milledgeville, Georgia that he had, quote, "contact" with the woman in the ladies room of the Capital City nightclub . . . after which she somehow slipped and fell and bumped her head. --Meanwhile . . . one of Ben's offensive lineman, WILLIE COLON, was club-hopping with Ben the night of the alleged incident. But he told police he didn't see anything. --He said he was nowhere near the bathroom where things supposedly happened, because he was too busy getting down on the dance floor.
As expected, MARIE OSMOND returned to the stage at the Flamingo in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, to resume her show with her brother DONNY. It was just one day after her 18-year-old son Michael was laid to rest. --After receiving several standing ovations, Marie said, quote, "Don't do that . . . I'm going to have to leave. --God bless you all. The way the Osmonds survive is we keep singing and that's what we want to do tonight. I know my son would want that and this show is for him." --Donny, of course, was giving Marie props throughout the show. After her solo performance, he said, quote, "I hope you all appreciate what she's going through tonight. She's a strong woman." --Marie mentioned her son several time throughout the night. Then, she broke down while delivering the final line of the show. --It goes like this: Donny sings, "May God keep you in his tender care" . . . and Marie finishes off with, quote, "'Til he brings us together again."

The "New York Post" says that JOHNNY DEPP is trying to quit the movie he's currently making, "The Tourist" . . . because his longtime girlfriend VANESSA PARADIS wants him to. --And why does she want him to quit? Because his co-star is ANGELINA JOLIE. --As you may know, Angelina stole BILLY BOB THORNTON away from LAURA DERN when she starred with him in the 1999 flick "Pushing Tin". --And while Angelina was filming "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with BRAD PITT, she stole HIM from JENNIFER ANISTON. --And now, Vanessa is afraid Angelina will go after HER man. And she's especially worried because they'll be shooting a SEX SCENE. --So Johnny is supposedly being the good boyfriend and trying to break his commitment to the film. --A "source" says, quote, "[Johnny is] currently trying to [get out of the movie] . . . and they're talking about replacing him with Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio."
The tabloids have linked ANGELINA JOLIE with quite a few guys over the years, but this one is new to me. --Some new book claims that MICK JAGGER and Angelina started having relations after she appeared in the ROLLING STONES' video, "Anybody Seen My Baby?" in 1997. --At the time, Mick was still married to JERRY HALL --Then, Mick and Angelina had ANOTHER affair in 2003. --The book also claims Angelina rolled around for a while with RALPH FIENNES . . . whom your kids know as Lord Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" movies.
Technically, we don't know for sure whether SIMON COWELL is engaged to his girlfriend . . . "American Idol" makeup artist Mezghan Hussainy. But one thing he'll readily admit to is that he's in love with her. --He says, quote, "You confuse lust with love, you know, when you're in your teens and stuff like that. It's a difficult thing to describe other than you know it when you are. --You just know when you've found somebody special and I feel very, very happy."
Several sources are claiming that ELIN NORDEGREN and the kids have moved back in with TIGER WOODS to help him get his life and career back on track. --But that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be a happy family again. --One source says, quote, "Elin knows Tiger has issues and is afraid to go near him romantically. Because of the children and his need to return to golf, she will try to live in the house with a wall between them. --The marriage is all smoke and mirrors, but Elin will help Tiger rebuild his image and gain new sponsorships because this is what his life is all about. --She is doing this more for the kids and holding the family together then anything else." --According to TMZ, Wednesday was the first night Tiger and Elin spent in the same house since November.
SEAN PENN has been going to Haiti to help with the earthquake relief effort . . . but not everybody thinks his heart is in the right place.
--There are those who've accused him of exploiting the tragedy to improve his public image . . . and others who think it's hypocritical for him to complain about the misfortune and injustice, then go back home to his millions of dollars. --Well, Sean has a special wish for those who doubt his sincerity . . . quote, "You know, do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah. You know, but I'm not going to spend a lot of energy on it."
I'm not really buying this, but PULITZER PRIZE CANDIDATE "The National Enquirer" says that MARIE OSMOND is on suicide watch since the death of her son Michael last Friday.
When JAKE PAVELKA proposed to VIENNA GIRARDI on "The Bachelor" earlier this week, he forgot to tell her an important fact about himself: He already had a girlfriend. (???) --At least that's what the alleged girlfriend claims. Her name is Tanya Douglas . . . and she says that when Jake went off to film "The Bachelor", they left their relationship, quote, "on hold." --And after the show finished taping in November, he started calling her and telling her how much he loved her. He also said the producers FORCED him to propose to Vienna. --Tanya came forward yesterday in a radio interview . . . (--With Island 106 in Panama City, Florida.) She actually tried to keep her identity a secret, and her voice was disguised. But the media found out who she was. --The reason she's coming forward is because she's disappointed that Jake proposed to Vienna . . . especially if he didn't mean it. She claims she and Jake had plans for the future . . . which may have included MARRIAGE. --Jake is denying her claims, of course. --He says, quote, "The relationship with [Tanya] was prior to 'The Bachelor'. It simply did not work out. --There was no overlap with that or any other relationship during the show. It is unfortunate that people such as this are trying to financially capitalize on or disparage my incredible relationship with Vienna. --I only wish everyone could be as happy for us as we are happy together."

MO'NIQUE isn't just a funny comedian and a great dramatic actress, she’s also a wife. A wife with very strange views on her husband and marriage. --On the BARBARA WALTERS Oscar special . . . which airs Sunday night . . . Mo'Nique explains that her marriage to actor SIDNEY HICKS is OPEN . . . although she's never taken advantage of that personally. --But she says, quote, "Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes. That's not a deal-breaker. That's not something that would make us say, 'Pack your things and let's end the marriage.' --What if it's 20 times? So what? We've been best friends for over 25 years, and we truly know who we are. Oftentimes, people get into marriages and they don't know who they're laying next to. I'm very comfortable and secure with my husband." --Oh . . . and remember Mo'Nique's hairy legs at the Golden Globes??? That wasn't just a one-time oversight. That's how Mo'Nique rolls all the time. And Sid digs it. --Mo'Nique says, quote, "He loves the hairy legs and if Sid likes the hairy legs, there you go. I tried shaving one time, and it was so uncomfortable and painful. I said never again would I do that to myself. I'm 42 and I'm very hairy."
After she broke up with country singer CHUCK WICKS, JULIANNE HOUGH was briefly linked to JARED FOLLOWILL from KINGS OF LEON. But now there might be a new man in her life. --Rumor has it she's dating DANE COOK. On Saturday night, Julianne attended one of his "comedy" gigs in Hollywood. After the show, he reportedly hopped off the stage and kissed her . . . and they left together. --Later that night they went out for dinner. A witness says, quote, "They looked very happy together, and very affectionate."
REBECCA GAYHEART and ERIC DANE . . . who ALLEGEDLY like to do drugs and take bubble baths with prostitutes whom they pay by credit card . . . will be the caretakers of a human female for the next 18 years. --Rebecca gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday. She's their first child. There's no word what they named her.
On Tuesday, RadarOnline.com quoted "sources" who said that BROOKE MUELLER was bisexual . . . and that she and CHARLIE SHEEN invited several other women into their bedroom. --And the "source" said these three-ways often included the ingestion of illegal substances. --Radar Online also claimed that one of the women who engaged in these SHEEN-ANIGANS would be coming forward soon to share her story. --Yesterday, Radar Online added a new wrinkle to the story. They said that Charlie and Brooke have shared as many as 10 sexual partners . . . and some of them were GUYS. --Yesterday's "source" said, quote, "It's more twisted than anyone knows or suspected. It's crazy."
MEL GIBSON has been talking a lot lately about how he gave up smoking . . . and what an ordeal it was. --Now he's telling us that it was even MORE difficult because he was a PRENATAL NICOTINE ADDICT, thanks to his mom. (???) --He says, quote, "It is a hellish habit to break. Your neurons are involved. My mother smoked when I was in her womb. I first had one when I was nine years old and I thought, 'Yes, I missed this!' I knew I missed it. --And 45 years later, after every single artistic decision; every decision I'd ever made was done with a cigarette. To not have that is pretty hectic. It's worse than crawling the walls, which I did for a while." --Then, Mel offers these upbeat, encouraging words . . . quote, "There's no more fun things left. I just don't do anything fun anymore; but that's dying isn't it? --I mean you die in stages. You let things go in pieces. It's mostly over halfway through."
This is RIDICULOUS . . . but it's funny . . . so let's roll with it . . . "Life & Style Weekly" would like to know why ANGELINA JOLIE is turning her daughter Shiloh INTO A BOY. (???) --Shiloh has a rather boyish haircut these days . . . and she tends to wear boyish clothing. And, as BRAD PITT admitted on "Oprah" not too long ago, Shiloh prefers to be called JOHN. (--Although that's just because she's obsessed with "Peter Pan".) --It's not clear exactly what Angelina's motivation is for this . . . or why Brad doesn't shoulder any of the "blame" for it.
When SARAH PALIN showed up in Los Angeles to tape "The Tonight Show" earlier this week, she had an ulterior motive. --By the end of the day today, she and "Survivor" creator MARK BURNETT will have met with all four of the major networks . . . NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox . . . about a reality show featuring the Palin family introducing the rest of America to their beloved Alaska. --One network executive said it would have elements of the Discovery Channel documentary series "Planet Earth". --There's no word yet if any of the networks are interested.

The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services paid a visit to KATHERINE JACKSON'S house on Monday night . . . to investigate an incident involving some of her grandchildren and . . . a STUN GUN. --Here's TMZ's version of the story: A few weeks ago, JERMAINE JACKSON'S 13-year-old son Jaafar ordered a STUN GUN online . . . apparently without any adults knowing about it.
--Jaafar lives with Katherine, as do several of his cousins . . . including MICHAEL JACKSON'S three kids. --So last week, security at the house heard some kind of commotion on the second floor. When they went to investigate, they found Jaafar trying to use the stun gun on Michael's 7-year-old son, BLANKET. (!!!) --One of the guards confiscated the gun before that could happen and gave it to Katherine, who locked it away. --But somebody . . . we don't know who . . . reported the incident to the Department of Children and Family Services. They paid a visit to the Jackson compound on Monday night, and took the stun gun. --But Katherine's attorney, Adam Streisand, tells a different story. --He admits Jaafar received the stun gun in the mail two weeks ago. Shortly thereafter, Katherine and one of the guards heard the sound of the taser and followed it to a room where they found Jaafar testing it ON A PIECE OF PAPER. --Streisand says, quote, "Mrs. Jackson took control over it and then had it removed from the house. There was no other incident. --Blanket Jackson never saw or heard the taser. Neither did Paris Jackson. Prince saw the taser in the possession of security. There is no second taser." (--That's another claim TMZ makes . . . that Jaafar has a second stun gun squirreled away somewhere.) --Katherine's attorney adds, quote, "All of the kids are happy, healthy and wonderful and that is Mrs. Jackson's only objective and concern."
It turns out the Smithsonian is NOT interested in the suit that O.J. SIMPSON wore when he was acquitted of double murder charges almost 15 years ago. --We heard yesterday that attorneys for both O.J. and FRED GOLDMAN had reached an agreement to donate the suit in the memory of NICOLE BROWN and RON GOLDMAN . . . the two people O.J. LEGALLY didn't kill. --But a statement on the Smithsonian website reads, quote, "The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will not be collecting O.J. Simpson's suit. The decision was made by the museum's curators together with the director." --A museum spokeswoman adds, quote, "We feel that this suit does not have a direct enough connection to represent the story of this event. This is no comment on the trial, O.J. Simpson, or the acquittal."
It's been a few years since NAOMI CAMPBELL hit somebody. Or else it's just been years since someone REPORTED being hit by Naomi Campbell. Either way, the streak is over. --Naomi is wanted by New York City Police after she started whacking away at her driver yesterday afternoon with her weapon of choice . . . a CELL PHONE. --Naomi was being driven through Manhattan at around 3:00 P.M., when she became ENRAGED for some reason, and attacked the driver from the backseat. --Now check this out . . . the driver actually stopped and yelled for a traffic cop. That's when Naomi JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND RAN AWAY. (!!!) --The driver . . . a 27-year-old guy who was only hired for the day . . . suffered some bruising under his right eye. --Of course, Naomi's rep is trying to downplay this whole thing. He said, quote, "There shouldn't be a rush to judgment. Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye."
DONNY OSMOND says his family is trying to stay strong in the wake of the death of MARIE'S 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil. --He tells "The Insider", quote, "Whenever there's a situation where there needs to be rallying, the Osmonds rally around each other and support each other. And there's a lot of that going on right now." --Donny said that when they heard the news, he and his other brothers boarded his private jet and flew to Las Vegas, where Marie lives. He says, quote, "It meant a lot to her to have us at her house."
It's time for the CHARLIE SHEEN story to get a little more sordid. --RadarOnline.com claims that a woman will soon be coming forward to admit that she had THREE-WAYS with Charlie and his wife, BROOKE MUELLER. And she plans on revealing, quote, "more outrageous details of their relationship." --There's no word what she has to say, but an unrelated source says, quote, "Brooke is bisexual. She and Charlie have had more than one woman share their bed in the short time they've been married. --Some of the women they slept with together also did drugs with them." --It's not clear when or where this woman will supposedly tell her story . . . but Radar Online says it'll happen within the next two weeks.
Sources say that TIGER WOODS is back home in Windermere, Florida . . . after spending a week in Arizona undergoing family and marriage counseling. --His wife, ELIN NORDEGREN, took part in the sessions with him. --We'd heard from PULITZER PRIZE CANDIDATE "The National Enquirer" that Tiger was in Arizona for treatment of DRUG ADDICTION. Apparently, that's not the case. --Now that he's home, Tiger is reportedly back to a daily golfing regimen. There's still no word when he'll compete again.
Not surprisingly, JAY LENO cruised to an easy victory over DAVID LETTERMAN on Monday night . . . his first night back as the host of "The Tonight Show". --According to the early estimates, 6.6 million people watched Leno's return, while "The Late Show with David Letterman" only averaged 3.8 million.
