Woman Killed in St. Albans House Fire

A St. Albans woman was killed in a fire early Sunday morning. The fire broke out in a home in the 2500 block of West Washington Avenue around, claiming the life of Gwendolyn Salton. St. Albans fire chief Steve Parsons says it was a long-burning, slow fire. He says Salton was unable to get out of the home in time. Salton's death was St. Albans' third fire fatality in three days. A man and a woman were killed in a blaze on Benedict Circle last week.
