Rep. Capito Donates Salary to Charity

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito says she tried to have her congressional pay withheld during October's partial government shutdown. But the U.S. Constitution requires members of Congress to be paid. Since she had to be paid, Capito says she donated her salary to seven charities in West Virginia. The charities received a total of more than $7,700. Capito says in a new release that these charities work to improve literacy, strengthen families, provide health care, preserve the state's history and promote the arts.
