Flags at Half Staff Sunday Were Part of a National Event

You may have noticed flags flying at a lower level on Sunday. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin ordered all U.S. and West Virginia flags to be displayed at half-staff at government facilities yesterday as part of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. Eighty-one fallen firefighters will be honored at the service being held in Maryland. The service marks the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week, which runs through Oct. 12.
