Thornsbury Makes Plea Deal
There's yet another twist in a government corruption case involving several Mingo County officials. Federal prosecutors are set to drop charges in one case against Suspended Mingo County Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury. This, after Thornsbury agreed to pleade guilty in the second conspiracy case brought against him last week. The Feds filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Charleston, asking Judge Thomas Johnston to indefinitely pospone the current filing deadlines in one case against Thornsbury. Thornsbury is accused of repeated attempts to frame a romantic rival for false crimes. He was charged last week in a second scheme designed to protect the reputation of a former sheriff, who prosecutors say had bought drugs from a local sign maker. Sheriff Eugene Crum was killed in an unrelated shooting in April.
