Chemical Spill Sends Two Workers to the Hospital

Two workers are recovering today after a chemical spill at Catalyst Refinery in Institute. The accident happened inside a production area, and the 75 gallons of nitric acid spilled. One worker had breathing issues and another suffered burns, and both were taken to the hospital. The company has materials to neutralize the acid and that process happened without the help of Institute firefighters. Emergency managers will work today to decide what caused the spill.
