Sheriff's Office Puts C andidates to the Test
The Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff’s Civil Service Commission and Sheriff John Rutherford are beginning the Civil Service Testing process to pick candidates for Entry-Level Deputy Sheriff. It's a rigorous process, with the physical ability test getting things started this Saturday at West Virginia State University Lakin Field. The sheriff's office says they're expecting 180 applicants. Those who pass the physical ability test will move on to the written exam Saturday. Those that score at least 70% on that move onto the thorough background investigation phase, and then a polygraph examination. After that it's interviews and a psychological exam, and finally a medical examination.
Each candidate who meets all of the criteria will go before the Kanawha County Commission for the formal acceptance into the Sheriff’s Office.
