Skiers Hit the Slopes in Record Numbers

Skiers are hitting the slopes this season. Snowshoe Mountain Resort is celebrating its largest turnout for an opening weekend in more than ten years. Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Snowshoe saw 73 percent more skier visits than their opening last year. Superstorm Sandy was good for the resort, with nearly 28 inches of snow . Snowshoe is in Pocahontas County, and has more than 40 acres of skiable terrain open now. The ski industry is big in West Virginai and draws more than 800,000 skier visits a year. That can turn into $250 million for the state economy.
